Letton Scholarship Requirements

The Letton Scholarship

Criteria and Requirements

The Letton Scholarship at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Paris, Kentucky, is an annual award presented to a member of the Parish. This award is given each year to a graduating senior going on to an accredited, two- or four-year college or university, or, if there is none, to a student currently enrolled and returning to a two- or four-year accredited college, university, or graduate school.

This Scholarship was begun in 1998 with monies given to St. Peter’s by Harold R. Letton of Carlisle, Kentucky. It is through his dedication to a Christian life and his interest in the education of youth, both secular and theological, that this Fund was established.

Applicants for the scholarship are required to submit a completed application form which is available upon request from the Parish Office or by downloading it from the St. Peter’s website www.stpetersparisky.org . A current transcript and a letter of recommendation in support of the applicant are requested. The applications will then be reviewed by the Rector and a Board formed of one representative of each of the three vestry classes, making a total of four reviewers.

This award shall be given to the applicant whom the Board recommends is the most deserving in light of the applicant’s example of Christian life, service to parish and community, and academic achievement.

This year the deadline for receipt of applications is Monday, August 2, 2021
